Virgil knows another way to go, ...。退休在家的地质学家管治国（张国立 饰）非常爱自己的四个孩子，但却总是拙于表达，多年来一直通过妻子跟孩子们沟通。妻子去世之后，他才恍然发现跟孩子有了距离。一次家庭聚会，天南海北的孩子们却不能回家。于是他只身辗转全国各地，去探望他的那些“自以为是”的“大孩子”们，期间发生了很多令人笑中带泪的故事。。
