工藤の長編3作目「遠いところ」は、沖縄の若年層の実態を描いた物語。沖縄の子供の困窮した状況、DV、シングルマザーの様子を追ったルポルタージュに工藤が自身の生い立ちを重ね合わせたことから企画が生まれ、独自に取材を重ね全編沖縄で撮影した。。Jan Sienkiewicz, a writer and lecturer who was expelled from university, takes a job at a Warsaw high school. Under his care comes the school's famous class of rebellious and knowledge-resistant outcasts. IIB are students from hell, and their future seems doomed. But Sienkiewicz, armed with literature, enthusiasm and a lot of unconventional ideas, will challenge the group doome...。
