The private eye decides to try to find the ring, ...。本剧讲述了知足常乐的京剧团道具师傅张卫国（黄磊饰）做了大半辈子的京剧，虽然过着特别普通的生活，却深信自己是“皇家的后裔”。在一次参加剧团师兄弟的聚会上，一群各自失意的中年男人开始各种浮夸的自我包装和互相攀比，带着这种包装回到生活的张卫国，经历了以为自己暴富，却又一夜负债，在一系列大喜大悲和鸡飞狗跳之后，最终卸下伪装，直面真实的自己的故事。。共产党地下工作者“老鬼”打入日伪情报组织内部，却在紧要关头被截断传送路线，自己也面临身份暴露的危险。危急之下，“老鬼”与日伪及打入组织内部的国民党军统特务展开周旋，即使付出再大的代价也要将最后的情报传递出去。。
