本片讲述了杜浩兄弟四人一起经商，受到邪恶势力彪爷的恶意竞争，兄弟四人先是被彪爷离间，最后又重归于好。突出了诚信经营和邪不压正这一正能量主题。。七十年代，城市知青马杰（文章 饰）来到西北某农村插队，被村里漂亮种驴——黑六的叫声吸引。马杰嫌黑六不让他骑，某次工伤在诊所缝针时偷了麻醉剂打给黑六，队长大莲（岳红 饰）以为黑六生病，心急如焚。马杰奇迹般地“治愈”了黑六，赢得大莲和队里的信任，成为牲口饲养员。马杰一边喂驴，一边偷偷与村里的女青年彩凤（白静 饰）相恋。与此同时，马杰对黑六只配种不干活的特殊待遇愈发不满，并对大莲“驴比人值钱”的论调暗自气愤，发泄中竟打坏了黑六的“命根子”。无法配种也不能干活的黑六被马杰宰杀，却没曾想黑六的弟弟，毛驴黑七，从此与马杰不共戴天。人与驴的斗争愈演愈烈。。Joseph and Brenda have done what many only dream of and retired to the South of France to live out the rest of their days as if they were permanently on holiday.
